Q: Do I have to audition?

A: Jr. Theatre and Teen Theatre are both by audition only.  Need some tips on finding a monologue and how to present?  Download a helpful guide: monologue tips.pdf.  Mini Kids theatre and Kids theatre do not require an audition.  Kids Theatre will hold audition to select parts once the class has already begun.

Q: What if I have to miss class?

A: We understand that students will have to occasionally miss class.  For Mini Kids and Kids Theatre, please let us know in advance about missed classes.  It is not okay to miss the final rehearsal before performance.  For Jr. Theatre and Teen Theatre, we expect students to attend every class, barring illness, unless a parent has told us in advance of the absence. 

Q: What if I have to miss a performance?

A: All students participating in YTC classes are expected to be in attendance for all performances and final rehearsals. If an illness occurs, we expect the parents of the student to contact the YTC staff as soon as their is a concern about attendance. 

Q: What should I wear for class?

A: Please wear clothes you can move in.  No skirts or dresses, no tight jeans.  All students in Kids, Jr. and Teen Theatre are required to wear jazz shoes for every class.  Jazz shoes can be purchased at Encore Dancewear on Ygnacio Valley.
